Sommers Family

Ghana, Africa
One year after college John and his wife Patty, who were expecting their first child, moved halfway around the world to be missionaries in Ghana, West Africa. This has been John and Patty’s life’s calling ever since as they raise their four daughters on the mission field. They are originally from the state of Michigan.
The Sommers family has been in Ministry over 20 years. John Sommers explained their ministry as “Indigenous church planters”- they want a church that is governed and supported by the people, under the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. This process does take more time.
Their primary role is church planters. That also includes training of nationals. They do literacy work, teach in the public schools and do Bible clubs there. They also run a small library.
Dear Praying Friends and Family,
I hope you are well. We are seeking to be more activity in sending out prayer requests. The Lord has impressed upon our hearts more and more of late the need to go forward in prayer. If you will be willing to partner with us in prayer, we would greatly appreciate it. For those that are able and willing we will be sending specific prayer requests in between our bi-monthly prayer letters.

Here are our current requests:
1. As Paul requested for prayer from the church in Ephesus we also ask: Ephesians 6:18-19 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints; And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel...

2. Please pray for these specific people that are currently being given the gospel. Pray for their attention, conviction, repentance, and belief. Among the ladies: Lilipearl, Bea, Loreeta. Among the children: Akyedee, M'Awurah, David, and Nat. Among the men: Collens.

3. Please pray for these specific people to complete our baptismal classes and take the step of baptism: Salamatu (this is a young lady that was raised Muslim and has converted, pray for boldness on her part to be baptized, and two brothers: Dynasty and King (their mother has recently passed away, it was her funeral the church performed).

4. Pray for our two girls in college in the coming days for strength, edification, spiritual growth. They are in the midst of the semester and there are things pressing heavy upon them. Also pray for them to experience a growth in community and fellowship around them, not just among fellow students, but also mature Christians of other ages.

Thank you for your time. Also, we greatly appreciate your prayers. May God richly bless you and may you sense His presence and leading.

In Christ,
John Sommer
Ghana, W. Africa

Layer Family

Poland
Ben & Sarah Layer with their 3 daughters, Mikaela, Maia and Aleyna.
The Layers have served for  22 years in Poland. They’ve helped with three church plants in the cities of Krakow, Siedlce and Łuków. Souls have been saved and God has united these Christians together to form local churches. He has raised up faithful, young Polish men to lead these churches.

One of their greatest concerns over the years was how they would raise their children so far from home and a support system. But Ben has said “God has wonderfully blessed our daughters; each of them is maturing into a Christian woman who knows Christ and desires to make Him known.”

“Both in times of great blessing and in disappointment and trials, God has met our every need. Through times of loneliness, He has sustained us. In times of financial crisis, He has supplied for our physical needs. Time after time, He has proved to be faithful and our future looks as bright as the promises of God.”

Stroud-Lusk Family

Manila, Philippines
Kevin and Stella both received Christ as late teens. Christ’s salvation changed their lives from desperation to deep satisfaction. They both felt that they could not keep the greatest gift given to them all to themselves, so with three young girls, they entered Missions training in 1999.

The Lord has taught the Stroud-Lusk family  that ministry is where you are and is only successful through complete reliance on HIM and healthy body function. “During the training, at times, we were only focused on getting to the tribe, so we missed chances to be used by God where we were and we regret any lost opportunities. As God moved us after our first term from the tribe to a support role at Faith Academy, we saw His plan to minister ‘right where HE has you NOW!’”

Even though the Stroud-Lusks are not serving in a remote village, they still feel a part of the call to reach the unreached. They support the children of cross-cultural church planters through advice, direct instruction or testing. They keep families on the field and focused on their call as they fulfill their call to reach the world.

Johnson Family

South Africa
In the mission field of South Africa for almost 16 years.

Jeremy gave his life to the Lord, with a willingness to do whatever God wanted him to do. He and his Wife Rebekah helped with camps and church doing anything they could do to help. They prayed about taking a missions trip and God gave them a desire to go to South Africa. 2005 they were able to take a trip and they felt God was opening them up for an opportunity to serve there long term. After much prayer and counsel Jeremy and Rebekah headed back to South Africa in January of  2009.

The Bible institute ministry gives young men and woman an opportunity to study and train in Bible doctrine. Along with this ministry The Johnson family have planted a church and had an opportunity to minister to many in the communities around them.

Hunter Family

Knysna, South Africa
Herb and Janet entered the mission field in 2017 with their 4 children, Caleb, Jared, Megan and Noah. Currently Noah is their only child still residing at home and serves alongside them in South Africa. Noah, who is in 11th grade, is a great help with their church plant.

The Hunters Mission Focus:
Our primary task in Knysna is the planting of churches. Through personal evangelism, small group Bible studies, youth events and building redemptive relationships, we work to see believers organized into God-honouring, gospel-centered local churches. Currently, our church-in-formation is called Knysna West Bible Church. Click the logos for pictures, videos, and more!

We also do Biblical Counseling. We teach, train, model, and practice Biblical Counseling through the Crosswalk Biblical Counseling Center. Click on the logo to watch stories of lives that have been transformed by the ministry of the Word through the Crosswalk Biblical Counseling Center!

Last - but not least - we assist in the training of people for ministry in South African churches. We offer a 15-course Bible Institute program that runs over the course of three years. Visit our Biblical Leadership Institute website by clicking on the logo below. You'll find information on classes, locations, and the staff God uses to minister the Word in an academic setting.

Mead Family

Senegal, West Africa
Joshua and Julie Mead have served as missionaries since 2005. They have 3 children, Tristan, Claryssa and Ryder

They were sent out of Fostoria Baptist Church in Michigan. After completing deputation and language school, they moved to Senegal in September of 2009. They spent their first term working with veteran missionaries. In 2013, they partnered with a Senegalese missionary and started a church in an unreached part of town. God has blessed their work as they continue to see people added to the church and opportunities expand in their gospel outreach.

They are currently involved in a variety of ministries, including media production reaching thousands weekly, medical outreach, hosting Bible seminars, church planting and much more.

Disciple the Nations

OUR MISSION
Disciple the Nations is a Christian missions agency that seeks to fulfill the Great Commission by making, maturing, and multiplying disciples and establishing biblically faithful churches of all nations for the glory of God. To accomplish our mission, we partner with churches and missionaries to see the church grow and advance throughout the world.

OUR HISTORY
We started in 2019 with a small group of Christians who were passionate about seeing Christ glorified through Great Commission ministries. We set out to partner with churches to ensure missionaries are well-equipped and are supplied with consistent encouragement and robust, personalized support. We believe this support enables missionaries to persevere for the long-term requirements of discipling mature believers and establishing healthy churches. Our prayer is that these faithful, gospel-centered ministries will bear fruit for generations to come.
